How to make yourself look like an ass on the Internet

Yearbook is slowly making me insane. Our deadline was Monday, then Wednesday, now it will be a miracle if we finish it this week. The kids are busting their little butts, but there's only so much time. Personally I'm really working on an ulcer. On the upside, I figured out how to do something new in Photoshop today. I cheered so much, you'd think I won the Nicholl.

So I will share with you this while I still have my higher brain functions intact.

You may have already seen it because it's gone viral, but in case you haven't, here's a perfect example of how not to take criticism. Read the comments on this woman's book review:

Big Al's review of The Greek Seaman

And if that's not enough schadenfreude for you, check out her Amazon page.

On the one hand, she's gotten a lot of publicity about this, which has probably translated into sales to the curious. On the other hand, damn lady.

  2. One of the positive reviews on Amazon--

"It is slow and awkward at the beginning but the tempo quickly builds. The Greek Seaman then explodes in white hot excitement. I was so happy at the conclusion that I fell into a contented sleep."

This person should write for porn.

The Greek Seaman explodes in white hot excitement.

    ROFL.

  3. Sorry to spam your comments, but the innuendo in the reviews is just too much to pass up. lol

"When I first approached The Greek Seaman I'll admit I was a bit apprehensive, but soon I was lapping it up! In fact I loved it so much that I polished it off in an evening. Now my mission is to get all my friends to share my taste for The Greek Seaman. I think it's worth paying for!"

  5. Embarrassing but this is a serious reminder that we all gotta be careful how we present ourselves on the Internet.

There was an article/interview about me for a feminist website, and one commentator accused me of being racist becuase she misinterpreted some images on my blog (these images were satirical, meant to mock racist people).

Needless to say, this really infuriated me but I had to stop myself from going on in an online trolling rant against her.

sometimes all you gotta do is take it with dignity and move on with life.

  6. I got curious about this author yesterday, found a photo of her stretching canvases in her bikini, that in itself not odd, but that she was using that photo a decade or two later, to best express who she is, seemed odd. This woman is an artiste.
