Robbed again

So my house was robbed yesterday. I got home to like eight LAPD officers in my kitchen. Fun times.

We're insured, but they got some really significant things. They knew what they were coming for and they were in and out in five minutes. The side door to my house is smashed and everything was ransacked.

I was in a really good mood when I got the call to come home, too. I was going to make chicken salad for dinner and watch Dead Snow with the Beefcake but that plan went out the door with our stuff.

I don't want to be at work today. I don't want to talk to anyone today. I just want to go lie in bed and cry, but we have to finish the yearbook and most of our work MUST get done today and we have a shitload of work to do. So here I am.

I'm getting an alarm system, a German Shepherd and a bazooka, and I shall carry them with me at all times from now on.

  1. dude, that sucks. I'm really sorry to hear that. I've never been robbed, but I'd as hell be very upset.

My condolences go out to you and the Beefcake. I hope those stealing scumbags get caught and arrested.

  2. Thanks. This is about the 100th time I've been robbed in some way, but at least this time the cops are on it. There were finger prints and everything.

  4. I'm so sorry, Emily. I know from experience that when it occurs it's a horrible feeling of violation. I hope this never happens again to you.

  5. Thanks. You feel better eventually right?

Am I going to turn bitter and paranoid now?

  7. We were worried about the cat because we couldn't find him at first, but after the cops left he came out from under the bed, where he had been hiding the whole time. He has been useless to the sketch artist, however.

  8. You do feel better. The bitterness and paranoia happens for other reasons.

In all seriousness, that you could make a joke about your cat (awwww) not being any help is a good sign.

I have a feeling he could be bribed into being more help with a can(s) of tuna on a platter :) Keep your spirits up....

  10. Being robbed sucks. Take your time filling out the reports, because you'll find yourself two weeks from now saying "Where did you put the camer--oh, shit."

    Sorry.

  11. Heh. That's actually what happened. I went to get the camera to take pictures of the damage and discovered it was missing.

  12. Tough break. Sorry for you losses. Being robbed is annoying side of home ownership (I have a friend in the alarm sale business, if you're interested)...

In twenty years of owning our house I've never been robbed or broken into and have never once locked my doors, even when I've been away on a shoot. Just lucky, I guess.

Condolences. Life in the big city definitely isn't everything it's cracked up to be. Hope they catch the bastards. An alarm system may not be a bad idea. You could always leave your webcam on and check on your home/cat periodically.

  14. Aw, dammit! I hope they catch the assholes. My folks got robbed years ago...and the junkie who took my Mom's ring was caught wearing it. Mom got it back. It can happen.
Anyways, good to see you have your sense of humor, and i'm glad you're okay.

  15. Sincerely sorry to hear this.

I run a web-based rescue for Rhodesian Ridgebacks and the ridgeless type, same as my dog. Mine is my best buddy, loves my cats, is friendly but overly protective, a sound outside and his hair stands up and he goes off. He's the lowest maintainence dog I've ever had. Please consider adopting.

  16. We've been discussing the dog issue, but I'm not sure. I like dogs, but the cat has been through a lot this year, he's getting older, and he doesn't even get along with other cats, much less dogs.

    But we're discussing it.
